Every year on November 11, the United States celebrates Veterans Day. This is a holiday that honors and memorializes the service of all United States military veterans.

This observance coincides with Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are recognized by other countries, and all of these days are built from the same original significance.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in the year 1918, the hostilities of World War I finally came to an end. It was a day of gratitude for the peace that followed, but also a day of mourning for the lives taken in the fight for that peace.

This day has meant paying tribute to WWI veterans, then later it became a celebration of world peace. It wasn’t until 1945, when WWII veteran Raymond Weeks came up with the idea, that the holiday was expanded to include recognition of all U.S. veterans.

Here at Goedeker’s, we would like to pay tribute to all those in the service of the U.S. military, past and present. They deserve all of our respect and admiration.
