This aerial panorama of New York was taken by James Blakeway. It features the area known as Lower Manhattan, the southernmost part of the island of Manhattan and the site of the earliest European settlement in the New York area. Today, Lower Manhattan is home to the financial district, often referred to as Wall Street. It is also home to One World Trade Center, which towers over the area at a pinnacle height of 1,776 feet tall. In the foreground, crossing the East River, are the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. Also visible in the distance, on the left side of the panorama, are Governors Island, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
