This cooktop replaced an original (1947) electric four-element unit custom built in a stainless steel mounting surface on top of sliding drawers for cookware. We were able to re-use the stainless steel mounting surface by cutting an opening to fit the new cooktop, so the new unit looks like it "belongs." I use it for cooking several times a day and am delighted with its performance and appearance.
