This is our second Kitchen Aid compactor. We replaced our first one because we decided to change our appliances to stainless steel. Our white one was 13 years old and still operating perfectly. Just hope this one is as good! The solid pack feature is absolutely necessary. That was the deciding factor in choosing this unit.
