I did the entire install myself; everything works. Much better than our previous GE Profile and much easier to clean. I wish the high-output burner was in the back instead of the front, but that isn't a big deal. It took me about 5 hours to do the entire job myself, including taking apart the old cooktop. The GE cooktop is used for everyday cooking and replaced an older electric downdraft cooktop. We had a similar GE cooktop in a previous house and wanted another.

Not sure if my rating is colored by the fact that I am very, very happy to be back cooking with gas! The cooktop works fine and the initial indecision I had about the downdraft affecting the flame are unwarranted. At the highest speed, there may be some, but that is usually when boiling water and is not a big deal.

The excellent control of heat allows precise methods such as searing tuna, sautéing scallops or melting chocolate or stewing over a couple of hours.

It looks great and works great. The grates are nice and easlily removaable to clean and be able to clean under. the only problem that i have with this product at all is the black ceramic top is very hard to clean without leaving streaks and looking bad. It just isnt easy for a quick wipe down that leaves it looking nice.
