Review Title: Love the Cafe oven | Review by susieq222
Great range and very attractive. Cooks very well. Love the burner sizes and layout of the burners. A 12" burner at the front was a must for me as well as a bottom oven and this has it. I like the knobs on the front instead of the back of the oven. Creates a lot less cleanup.

We've loved the quick to heat burners and the even spread of the heat. Our only peeve, and it's one we knew going in, is the need to perpetually clean the glass top.
Review Title: Control Panel Sensitivity | Review by pearman75
Been using this range for about 3 months. Turkey cooked via convection w/probe and it came out good. Don't like that the oven turns off when probe temp is reached and the timer ding is not loud. The cooktop does heat up fast, visually, but doesn't start heating the pot quickly enough like radiant rings. When ingredients do start getting hot (boiling) the pot has to taken away from the burner area because the glass cooktop does not cool fast. Watch what you want to bring up to a boil and stop because the cooktop does retain heat for a pretty long time. Turning down the burner does not reduce heat quickly. Also, the front control panel is too sensitive. Slightest brush with hand, stomach or anything else will effect a response from the keypad. Do like the bold stainless knobs. The cooktop lockout feature is not identified in the owner manual until the back of the manual and then under special features. As sensitive as the control panel is the lock is a great feature but doesn't always unlock as the directions say. Sometimes have to press selected buttons on keypad several times before the unlock is activated. Also, for a high end range the keypad should have been backlighted because it is flat and difficult to see unless bent down to its level. The companion 30 in built in Cafe convection oven has a similar keypad and it too should have a backlight. Finally, the owners manual is printed on brown recycled paper that doesn't fit the premium price paid for this oven. The GE microwave purchased to complement the Cafe ovens is printed on white, easy to read paper. Overall, like the looks of the range, but it does have some quirks some people can't overlook and maybe should opt for lower priced GE products with similar features.

I am very happy that I purchased this Cafe Series range. It has the feel of a high quality appliance. I am very satisfied with its performance, both stove top and oven. All the knobs and touch controls are very easy to use. It is also easy to clean.

If I had to buy another glass top electric stove it would be this one. The best electric stove.
Review Title: Love it! | Review by Wendy54
I chose this model for the convection oven and the cooking drawer to give me a second oven. This is the best range I've ever owned. The convection roast and bake works great. I also love cooking on the griddle on top of the stop. Great product - works great. Would definitely recommend it.

Wanted a high end stove with all the features, unfortunately indicator lights failed after two weeks of use.these lights tell when cooktop is still hot,had it repaired but it was not easy for the tech to fix.seems like poor parts or poor quality control

Review Title: GE Cafe Series cooking product | Review by PhillyDilly
My new unit included all appliances, the GE cafe series. All the appliances appear sufficient for my needs.
Review Title: Outstanding value | Review by AlBF
I wanted this unit because the controls are on the front and you don't have to reach over product to adjust them. Also the extra oven and 5th burner is a fully fuctional burner.

I hope to live long enough to use all the features! Love it.
Review Title: Great Stovetop and Ovens | Review by BeavercreekCook
I had been without a stove for a while and I bought this one based on its rating in Consumer Reports. I have used nearly every feature and I am very happy with the performance and ease of use. The second oven is very handy when baking foods that require different temperature.
Review Title: lovin' it so far! | Review by Jamae
Years and years of certain brand appliances I took the plunge and purchased the GE Cafe slide in stove, and so far so good! Really looking forward to purchasing the matching counter depth refrigerator.
Review Title: Very please with the product | Review by raider1
CS980STSS - This unit has met or exceeded our expectations. The controls are easy to use and the stove top burners heat up rapidly and maintain the set temperature. Both ovens work to specification. One feature I recommend is backlighting the control panel. Without directing remote lighting (I use a penlight) it is difficult to read the controls in the evening.
Review Title: Best ever range I have had. | Review by Jean44
This range is just fantastic! Cooks like a dream!! Heats up very fast and cooks evenly! The options on top of the range are just great! You can cook in any type of pot. You can keep an item warm on top of the range at the same time you are heating up another item. The grill is just wonderful. I am totally enjoying this range!

Bought this with the matching appliances looks great!
Review Title: Better than I thought! Glad I purchased | Review by Tricia54
I redid my kitchen and really wanted the cafe series in gas. However, the cost to put gas into my kitchen wasn't in the budget so I had to keep electric. I spent a lot of time trying to decide on my range. After many appliance dealerships later I chose the cafe series range with baking drawer. So far I really like the appliance. The baking drawer I one of he best features. I use it all the time. My only complaint would be you really have to be careful with the baking time. I find that I need less with most recipes. I really like the look of the range except for the lines that outline the burners. However, now that I have been using the appliance I don't mind it as much.
Review Title: Second oven. | Review by BAVI
The warming drawer/second oven makes life so much easier. Don't ever want to be without one again.
Review Title: Great oven | Review by Dhend
This was standard in my home purchase. I have been pleased with it's performance. Have not used the bottom oven but have used the grill.
Review Title: Great Oven-Fair Cooktop-Terrible Control Panel | Review by Jednick
The ovens are the only good thing about this appliance. The main oven heats quickly; maintains temperature; the convection feature is excellent. The baking drawer takes longer to heat, as the manual states, but it also works well and adds a lot of convenience.
Review Title: The right layout. | Review by Gibbi
We are very pleased with the quality and appearance of this product.
Review Title: It's what I expected. | Review by Rikilyn
I bought this almost a year ago and, so far, have had no issues other than the initial installation, which was resolved.
Review Title: Not as useful as the 40-year-old GE range it replaced | Review by Mossytop
Pros: - Looks good, not Avocado color! - Knobs on front are easy to use - Choice of burner sizes is handy Cons: - Harder to keep clean than conventional range, need to scrub it off after every use. - Range sits 3/4" away from wall, needed to fabricate a custom backsplash to fill gap. - Back lip is short, stuff can fall behind range. - Broiler has two settings: too hot & not hot enough. Would prefer single setting half-way inbetween. - Burners cycle on and off like a cheap hotplate. Hard to get even heat. Won't stay hot to boil large pot quickly. - Baking drawer is slow to heat, uneven. Used it once, A storage drawer would be more useful. - Burner failed after 6 months. Bad sign. - Has typical shortcomings of radiant cooktop--slow to cool down, pans dance around if not perfectly flat.
Review Title: Sharp Looking Range - Lower Oven Disappointing | Review by OttoJax
Amazing this oven fits in the same footprint as my old oven. Looks larger. Some reviewers comment they frequently brush against the touch panel causing the settings to change or turn off. This has never happened to me. The control knobs have a nice solid feel. So far I am pleased with the oven with two exceptions. #1 - the oven does not fit snugly against the back wall. Cannot get it closer than 2 1/2 to the wall. #2 - the lower oven is grossly underpowered. While it is probably possible to use the lower oven to bake, quoting directly from the owner's manual " the preheat time for a 350 setting is 20 minutes. " I had hoped to use it to bake pizzas quickly....the published preheat time for 425 is 30 minutes. Additionally, the rack in the second oven is unbelievable flimsy and cheap. Was shocked my $100 toaster oven has more substantial racks than this nearly $3,000 oven.
Review Title: Love the versatility! | Review by mindym
My husband picked out the appliances for my new kitchen. His favorite feature is the warming oven to heat out plates each night. I love the versatility with different size burner options and multiple ovens. The bottom oven is so versatile I use it more than the larger one.
Review Title: GreatRange | Review by hartzellvtxchick
I bought this and had it installed in July 2014. I am very happy with my selection.
Review Title: Very satisfied, design, features and performance | Review by Jamjar14
I have owned this range for a year now. There are probably some features that I have not explored fully as I do not cook extensively. I would suggest browsing the owner's manual online to read about all of the features. There are many!
Review Title: Great rangetop-Jury still out on oven | Review by Contessa
This range replaced a GE JSP48GJ so it had a lot to do to impress me!! The old range had modular units for the top that included a griddle and a grill. This range did yeoman's duty for our holiday dinners and traditional Sunday breakfasts. Self-cleaning was a joy. While the cooking elements were replaced many times and the solenoid for the self-cleaning oven was replaced three times, we hated to part with the JSP. The glass ceramic cooktop on the Caf range has a sleek look and heats up quickly and cleans beautifully. Partly because the burners control heat so well, I haven't yet had a spill that wasn't easily cleaned up. (I am using the Ceramabryte cleaner that came with the range.) Now, about the ovens. First, I love the lower cooking oven. It's perfect for a tray of biscuits which need to cook at a different temperature than the rest of the meal. The main oven is very large and will hold my largest roaster as well as a couple of smaller casserole dishes. I have yet to find a use for the convection oven. (I have not made cookies as was recommended.) Convection baking dried out roasts, buns, and cakes and took longer to do it. Some serious flaws with the oven lead me to wonder who designed this? and did the designer consult a real cook? 1. The meat probe seems to record internal temperature accurately, but when the set temperature is reached, the oven turns off. Who stops cooking EVERYTHING when the meat is done and, presumable resting? 2. The oven turns off at the slightest touch with only a muted beep for a warning. In a busy kitchen with more than one thing happening, the oven can be turned off for a half hour before the cook knows about it. 3. The cleaning cycle is very long at 4-5 hours for a full cycle. It does not clean as thoroughly as my old range, leaving the window and some oven surfaces still dirty. AND a. The oven light burns out with each cleaning cycle. b. Nothing else on the range works during the cleaning cycle. Who can schedule their time so that they don't have to use the cooktop for 4 hours? Overall, the rating for this range is only average and I willingly paid much more than an average price based on my long love affair with my old GE ranges - all of them.
Review Title: Cafe stove | Review by wefillions
I bought this just before Christmas. I love the double over, dual burner set up, and the fifth burner in the back. It is also a commercial looking electric range that has a low back profile that works with my dcor.
Review Title: Once you go convection you'll never go back! | Review by JKysar
I purchased the GE Cafe electric convection range a few months back and absolutely love it! The double oven option is definitely worth the extra money! For example, this past Easter (April 2014) I baked a full ham in the main oven while cooking casseroles in the oven drawer. We originally were looking at buying a double oven but I wanted one large space for hams or turkeys and a smaller space to cook side items. Note: this is not just a warming drawer. It actually bakes up to 450. The convection bakes extremely even! Best cookies and cakes! Oh, and there is a built in meat thermometer! You just plug it into the I sode of the oven then program for the oven to beef once it hits the desired temp! Tons of great features! Oh, and we have a toddler so the "range lock out" (childproof feature that disables key pad) is a life saver! Easy to turn on and off. I could go on and on. Love this stove!

Review Title: Form and Function, well designed. | Review by dwiemer
As an avid cook, this oven has made my time in the kitchen a pure pleasure. Accurate temperature settings, plenty of cooking surfaces, and we LOVE the griddle feature. Only drawback is the location of the controls can cause a inadvertent change in setting. Will be using the lockout feature.

Review Title: High Quality Stainless Beauty and High Value Too | Review by StingrayBayouGirl
As soon as my husband spotted this stove he had to show me. We both agreed that it was a great choice for us because it would complement another manufacturer's professional series refrigerator and dishwasher that have been in place for a few years. We had an existing bisque GE stove and microwave that were still working after 12 years and were leaning toward replacing with a GE stainless steel model to complete a coordinated kitchen. We saved a substantial amount of money by going with GE; however, we think GE offers superior value and a new GE refrigerator and dishwasher is in our future. The stove is a pleasure to use. We highly recommend GE appliances to all our family an friends.
Review Title: Great Features | Review by ambergold
Was hesitant to buy this because of the cost, but it was the only slide in range that would fit into the counter cut out. I am very glad I did. I love all the features and the performance of this oven.

I have this stove for 2 months and so far, I am very happy with it.
Review Title: Nice looking range | Review by billygoatma
I do like the look and features of this range. The burners offer different options and heat up quickly. However I did find that the ovens take an awful long time to preheat. And unfortunately after only 4 months we had to have it serviced. The function buttons on the front panel stopped working. It is too soon for me to say if I would recommend this product to a friend.
Review Title: Sleek look, nice features | Review by Danella23
We are happy with our purchase. The stove works well, so does the cook top. Not sure if the cookie drawer is a good idea, there is no glass front to watch the food cook. The item is a little bit overpriced, thus the 4 stars.
Review Title: GE Cafe' Range | Review by Swurtele
I love this range, very pleased. Looks great, very functional, love the cooking drawer.
Review Title: It's just ok | Review by GourmetFamilyCook
I had to replace an older oven and microwave and really liked the looks of the GE Cafe series. I find the oven racks are not quite strong enough to easily slide in/out when using heavier roasting pans, you definitely need to use two hands and the racks still don't slide in smoothly-- at this price, the racks should have been made with thicker gauge metal. The electric panel is highly touch sensitive, and can turn off by accident. In addition, the panel is set so if you want to readjust the baking temperature, you have to press "bake" again before entering in a higher/lower temp. This step is unnecessary and seems to have been designed by an engineer who does not cook. At three months in, one of the stove-on indicator lights is burnt out, I didn't think I'd have to call repair service this soon. And I know all the stoves seem to be designed this way now, but I don't see the reasoning behind the decision to put the large burner for stock pots in the front. No matter how you position the lid, the fan from the Advantium microwave is not strong enough to pull in most of the steam-- steam fogs both sides of the microwave, which is just one more item to clean after cooking. Not to mention if this will affect performance of the microwave at some point, which is why I then went back to the store and purchased the extended warranty for the microwave. Overall, I am disappointed that I ended up with this product, I feel the quality should have been much higher given the cost of the range/microwave. But if you're looking for style, you are left with little choice.
Review Title: Unreliable technology | Review by VDG52
I used my new GE Caf range for about 2 months and then all of the surface burners stopped working. The GE technician could not diagnose the problem and ordered many inappropriate parts. We requested a different GE technician who finally, with the help of GE tech support, diagnosed a bad controller board. The earliest availability for a replacement part was 3 months out, so we requested a replacement stove. It took 6 1/2 weeks to get a replacement unit.

Review Title: Our first class top | Review by Hillbill
Overall a great stove. My wife loves the extra warming .
Review Title: Happy but not great | Review by Kady98
Happy with my purchase BUT there are definitely things that could be improved upon...controls are inconveniently placed, you must back up & crouch slightly to set timer/oven temp etc. Also have repeatedly turned off oven by leaning too close to controls. Takes longer than I would have anticipated to preheat oven. 12" burner produces so much heat that even on low liquids boil at a full boil. Minor aggravations. Chose this range because other slide-in models no longer fit.

Review Title: CAFE SERIES | Review by abstar
WE PURCHASED IN DECEMBER WITH THE PROMISE OF HAPPY EVER AFTER. WE ARE!
Review Title: Functional and beautiful | Review by StingrayBayouGirl
We bought our Caf series range to complement an existing professional series refrigerator and dishwasher from another manufacturer. We could not justify the cost of buying a stove from the same collection. Based on decades of buying and using appliances, we decided that we preferred to go back to GE for current and future purchases primarily for superior customer service. We saw the Caf range and agreed we had to have it. We love the stove. It is easy to use and particularly like the convection feature. We are using the bottom drawer for storage and doubt we'll ever use it except maybe at Thanksgiving or Christmas. The range gives a built in appearance and we love the knobs that are easy to use. All stainless steel is not created equally. This is high quality stainless. Beautiful stove.
Review Title: Weak, underpowered, doesn't heat up enough to cook | Review by Virginia5005
Very sorry I bought this, it is underpowered, cannot boil a pot of water in a reasonable amount of time, and is not as useful for cooking as my old electric coil range that it replaced. On the plus side, it looks great. Buy it if you don't intend to actually use it for cooking.
Review Title: Great | Review by SherriMac
Glad my old range went out...now learning how to use all the different things on this range. Its great!
Review Title: absolutely love it! | Review by danjefftaylor
Had this installed about month ago when renovating the kitchen. First, all of our visitors comments on how great it looks: beefy steel knobs, controls upfront and not in back, well laid out control panel. It completes the look of a top-of-the-line kitchen. Second, incredible functionality. Wife loves the baking drawer and the meat thermometer that can be plugged into the side panel of the interior of the oven to monitor the temperature on the control panel. Very easy to clean. Very easy to use. Heats evenly and well. Did extensive research before purchasing and viewed many different competing models from competing brands. This is the BEST electric (non-induction) range on the market.
Review Title: Beautiful design; operates like gas | Review by DD2013
I've used electric my whole life and hated the way the element stays hot for so long after turning off. This range mimics gas because it cools so quickly after turning the element off. Love that! It's so pretty I hated to use it at first because I was afraid I'd mess it up but it cleans so easily. Oven is HUGE! I love the griddle and use it often.
Review Title: Beautiful stove | Review by LARmyrtle
This is a beautiful stove, I have not used the lower oven yet, but I have been pleased with the performance of the unit. I wish I had gas into my condo as that was my preferred method of cooking.
Review Title: High quality build, looks great, excellent features and performance! | Review by cookintime
All of the elements on the cook top provide accurate, even heat, the warmer element is especially useful both as a warmer and as an additional cooking element. The convection oven holds temperature evenly and is very accurate, no more turning the cookie sheets or cake pans halfway through the cooktime. Roasts and braised dishes come out excellent. I have not used the bottom baking drawer yet but I know it will be put to good use as a warming drawer or a place to bake the rolls when we have a crowd over for dinner. I wish that the designers of the range would have made the timer alarm much, much louder. Or, how about this, with all the on board electronics this range already has, couldn't you provide a programmable volume control for the alarm? I also do not use the cast iron griddle that came with the range; I'm just too worried about dropping that heavyweight on the glass top. I have been using an Emeril non-stick griddle which spans the two left side burners and that works just great for making large breakfasts. The control that combines the two burners maintains an even temperature for the entire griddle. I researched a wide variety of ranges from different manufacturers and I am very satisfied with my decision to purchase the GE Cafe range.
Review Title: This is a great Range | Review by John04
Looks Performance Quality Everything about this Range is Super
Review Title: Fantastic Buy it. | Review by DebG123
Love love love this range. I use the baking drawer daily. The large oven is very very spacious; so if it's just my husband and I, we use the drawer. Heats quickly and cooks very fast. you may want to check your food 15 minutes earlier than you use to. The large oven, fantastic. Lots of space, convection wonderful, ease of use---awesome, and has a lock feature so little ones can not turn it on. Stove top cooks close to having gas! What a bonus this is. Bravo to the engineers who planned and executed this marvelous RANGE. Two things they could add---roller racks and covered element. That was not stopping me to buy this range and I'm glad I did however, I would have really enjoyed the new features mentioned. : ) Food comes out perfectly.

We love the way this brute looks almost as well as we like the way it works. Excellent fit and finish inside and outside. The digital oven controls are intuitive and the range top features five elements which fit all of my pots and pans perfectly. Oven is easy to clean, stove top elements work with blazing speed. Best stove I've ever had.
